As I welcome 2024...
As I welcome 2024 my whole being is still reflecting on the previous year. 2023 was a year of big challenges and lifelong lessons for me, which I am grateful for. Today I take this moment to contemplate on the 3 most valuable lessons that this years gifted me and I am humbled to share them with you:
1.EMPOWERED BY CHOICE:
I've learned that I can always have or create a choice. I have the choice even to change my mind...Reminding myself that I always have the choice from the smallest things in my everyday-life to the bigger decisions in life, love, health and future, has been a crucial element for my healing journey. Trauma is formed in the lack of choice and therefore providing the self with the gift of agency and control in one's own life, body, relationship and so on, is a key element for deep and embodied healing, integration and empowerment.
2. EMBRACED BY AUTHENTICITY:
I've learned that being un-apologetically myself should be a non-negotiable. As children we used to be spontaneous in every single way, expressing our selves without restrictions, fear or resistance. If that was dismissed, abused and distorted in any way, our authenticity was affected too and this can cause a lot of suffering. My conscious decision to restore and embody my authenticity after childhood trauma came with a lot of loss and grief, but it was worth it as it took away from me what is not meant for me while bringing a lot of clarity, freedom and truth at once, which I feel grateful for.
3. FELT BY UNCONDITIONAL LOVE
I've learned that when you hit rock bottom you will either get damaged or have a breakthrough. When deep pain is penetrating your heart you can either fight and resist the pain or totally feel it while keeping your heart wide open. This year I allowed myself to feel the pain I was holding inside (both personal and generational) completely. I sat with it, accepted it, spoke with it, allowed it to be AS IT IS. And suddenly it uplifted. The contracted and dense feeling I had it suddenly felt an expansive and light feeling in my heart. it felt as an out-of-this-world experience. Witness consciousness around and within me was full of unconditional love, presence and gratitude.
