7 Tips to live a fulfilling life



Life itself is a mystery, you don't know what it will bring next or how it will unfold. At a current stage things are happening or appear to be in a specific way, but in the next day everything might change. For example the emotions and impressions we have for different experiences and situations, the weather alongside the seasons or our mood, and relationships can change as people change, including ourselves. All the above and so much more are shaping and reshaping our life. This is the flow of life.


When the changes of life take place we suffer because our expectations are interrupted. We are unable to flow with life, which means we are resisting to allow changes to take place in an organic way. Usually this happens due to fear of change or due to our inability to comprehend the laws of life in this current stage.


Today I share with you 7 tips of how to live a fulfilling life. Even if the events of life are keep changing and even if you might resist to them, these steps will help you navigate the flow of life in a holistic way:


  1. Stretch your body and smile, even if you can't: As soon as you wake up stretch your body and place a smile on your face, even if you think you can't. This stretch of face and body wakes up and boosts the body with the feeling of aliveness and pleasure, it awakens the senses and it connects you with your body. It also sends the message in your brain that you are able to expand and feel good when you choose to. This is important if you want to experience a fulfilling life.

  2. Find a reason to be grateful, every single day: As soon as you wake up ask yourself for what are you grateful today? If you can't find a reason then create one. Gratitude is a feeling that will constantly increase your well-being and a deeper state of calmness within yourself. If you activate gratitude in a daily basis, it will increase the sense of fulfillment.

  3. Accept changes and let go of resistance: No matter how painful it might be, try to let go of resistance as it increases the emotional pain that you might go through. Acceptance is a big step towards experiencing contentment and a fulfilling life, it can increase your capacity to flow with life and be more resilient with what that flow might bring along.

  4. Surround yourself with beautiful people: Choose your people, choose to have around you people who you truly love, admire, feel good with, people who support you in every possible way and there is a mutual exchange of feelings and experiences between you two. Having our favorite people around us will increase our happiness and well-being and therefore it will create a more fulfilling life.

  5. Let go of expectations and embrace failure: Having expectations means that when an expectation is not met we might experience disappointment much easier and more frequently. When we learn to let go of expectations we become less rigid with our personal mind-oriented goals and more open to the natural flow of life. We are more open to accept changes and even failure without feeling that our world is falling apart. This will increase our resilience and flexibility, and therefore our capacity to create fulfilling moments in life in a daily basis.

  6. Take a small step at a time: Do not rush for results, do not push yourself to your limits, and do not put a lot in your place at once. Take instead one small step at a time. This applies to everything in life: job, studies, relationships, decisions, making changes and so much more. Taking a small step at a time will give you the space to reflect before you make big steps and therefore it will give you the time you need in order to make adjustments and choose again. This will prevent you from being stressed and overwhelmed, and it will also prevent you from making big failures that will affect your self-confidence and maybe even your self-esteem. Making a small step at a time and reflecting as you go is on its own a fulfilling process, knowing that you had enough time and space to make the right decision for the next move.

  7. Set your boundaries: Setting boundaries to self and others is essential for a fulfilling life. It is important to honor these boundaries and allow yourself to have specific boundaries according to the people and the situations you come across. This is an act of love and respect towards one's self. It is essential for building a fulfilling life.

All the above are the main steps of how to create and maintain a sense of fulfillment in your everyday life. You can add to the list or adjust in the way it serves you the best. And feel free to update your own list as you navigate life and as you seek for a more fulfilling life experience.
